Chasing the starry night.  I was eager to try out a wide open aperture on a dark, starry night, so I was happy to accompany my friend Ronda to Manitou Lake on Saturday night.  Man, it was cold!  As always, it was a mix of fun and frustrating.  I had forgotten some of the tips I’d learned, most specifically to bring a laser pointer to help with focus.  Also, the brightest stars turned in to big blobs of light while the others practically disappeared.  And I could tell immediately that the  50mm would start the trailing long before the 30 seconds.  So, here is the best of my results.  And a pocketful of lessons-learned.
